BUILDING and DESIGN
The smartphone is made with premium-grade materials, which is the first thing that you will notice as soon as you pick up. Right curves and chamfered edges, more rounded design than previous the OnePlus 3T, 3, and 2. which means good and better hold and use for extended periods of time sitting comfortably in your palm. The truth is it looks neat, clean, solid and premium. The OnePlus 5 is the best-looking device the company has made to date and the thinnest phone yet from OnePlus at 7.25mm. The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch screen size, with no “XL” s fully protected with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 tech to ensure a screen off scratches. Almost the same with the leaked specs, pictures, videos and Ads.

The front of OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 3T is fairly similar; the two smartphones possess the same screen size and design that sticks to the proven formula.
The top side at the Front above the display housing the earpiece in the center, the ambient light/proximity sensors at the right-hand side and Sony IMX371 sensor, 16MP front-facing camera along with the notification LED placed at the left.
Also at the front, sport the fingerprint sensor right below the screen which is easy to reach, unlike on the Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy S8 which both opted out to replace with the rear sensors. The alert slide is similar to Apple’s mute toggle feature, this three-position switch cycles between Ring, Do not disturb, and Silent modes.
The power button and two nano SIM tray are both located on the right side of the device. Unfortunately, the sim port is and zero microSDs Hybrid – there is no chance for storage expansion which is one of the shortcomings of OnePlus 5. The opposite side hosts the volume buttons and the alert slider. The bottom of OnePlus 5 host more, to begin with, the USB-C (USB 2.0 speed) port at the center along with a 3.5mm headphones socket on the right.
The primary microphone alongside a single speaker grill at the left side, while the Top is kept clean.
At the Back side of OnePlus 5 sports the Dual camera following the likes of the iPhone 7 Plus, Gionee S10 and the Micromax Dual 5. Sony IMX398 sensor 16-megapixel Main camera and the Sony IMX350 sensor, 20-megapixel video recording Tele-camera at the top-right area at the back of the smartphone.
Sided next is the secondary microphone alongside the Flash LED. The one plus logo is also sported as usual at the Upper-middle.
According to an ONEPLUS, the Two colors have been specifically designed to hide the antenna bands to ensure that it was not noticeable for an unspoiled full-metal look. The antenna bands have been integrated into the edges of the device.
Apart from the Zero microSDs slot support, Another shortcoming regarding the design of the OnePlus 5 is No ingress protection e.i the device is not waterproof. Thou would survive a drop of rain if you need to use it outside, but it’s not IP-rated, and won’t survive more water on it. The smartphone sports dimension 154.2 x 74.1 x 7.25mm and it weighs 153g and an aluminum unibody design. The Smartphone is available in two colors, and these are tied to the storage and RAM options. The 64GB and 6GB RAM version come in Slate Gray, while the more expensive 128GBand 8GBRAM version comes in Midnight Black.

DISPLAY and INTERFACE
The OnePlus 5 features a Super Optic AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors screen pixel density with a display measuring 5.5 inches.
The display resolution of the screen is pegged at 1080 x 1920 pixels (~401 PPI pixel density) resolution screen. Going back to display the history of smartphones mad by OnePlus.
In the beginning, it was IPS LCDs, and X made the switch to AMOLED Screen display, and later the OnePlus 3 got Optic AMOLED, Followed by 3T and Now the Plus 5 also possess the same 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED FullHD screen. OnePlus Should have upgraded the screen by now, it not that interesting to know that they have decided to use the same screen type on their last three devices. QHD resolution wouldn’t be a bad idea for OnePlus 5; it would have granted the One Plus5 more stake in it smartphones category. Another detail worth mentioning is that when You take a closer look at the screen, You will notice the fine weave of the subpixels which is a result of faulty dimensioning of pixel arrangement – the ratio of the green dots is much higher than both the red and blue ones.
The plus 5 is as bright as the Galaxy S8 when considering the maximum brightness while talking about the Sunlight contrast Both iPhone 7 Plus and LG G6 can match the OnePlus 5 but comparing to Galaxy S8 it fare better than Plus 5, Samsung is generally better than OnePlus handset in this respect. Below is the direct Sunlight contrast ratio test for top devices it this category.

The OnePlus 5 comes with both Night mode and Reading mode features;

BENCHMARKS and PERFORMANCE
OnePlus as come out to regretfully announce that the New Plus5 does not have the enough capacity to receive advanced frameless QHD displays, But it provides a powerful 10-nm chip Snapdragon 835 with a peak frequency of 2.45 GHz, which we’ve seen in the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, HTC U11, and Samsung Galaxy S8.
The smartphone also comes in two different trim levels: the 64GB storage and 6GB RAM version come in Slate Gray Color, while the higher one with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM version comes in Midnight Black Color.
This device is a powerful phone that can run any game you want smoothly, and most importantly fast. Thou can say, it might turn out to be Nokia 3310 in Future. We ran some apps and games including, Real Racing 3, Dream League 2017 also GTA-Vice city and the OnePlus 5 handled them with ease.
What are the Benchmarking scores of OnePlus 5 compare to the competition?
There are reports though that the OnePlus 5 is cheating benchmarking tests to provide inflated results. We’ve approached OnePlus for comment and will update this review once the allegations have been cleared up.
OnePlus 5 passed the strength test
“A big step for OnePlus. Perfection in detail. Never stop. The best camera to date. ” With such words, the company itself described its flagship OnePlus 5. A new device is always interesting. And not only from the position of how it copes with the main array of tasks but also regarding reliability and strength. Just after the flagship presentation was completed, a video with a test of the novelty appeared on the well-known YouTube-channel JerryRigEverything, where it was mercilessly tortured with the usual “instruments of torture”: sharp objects, a lighter and a bend test.
Regarding the stability of the display, mechanical damage, OnePlus 5 in no way inferior to the flagships of Samsung and Apple. The tempered glass of Gorilla Glass 5 did its job, and only using a cutting tool calibrated on the 6th Mohs scale allowed to leave barely noticeable scratches. The fingerprint scanner, covered with ceramics and cameras, showed enviable stamina, and it was not possible to harm them.
The blogger demonstrated the contrast of the 2.5D-glass from the panel with the 3D-effect, and also compared the novelty with the iPhone 7 Plus in the part of whom the double camera protrudes above the case. And for dessert, a bend test. It can be said that OnePlus 5 proved to be “a tough nut to crack” and it is not an easy task to inflict significant harm on it.

ONEPLUS 5 CAMERA
- OnePlus phone to feature a dual-lens camera
- 16MP + 20MP lens on rear that gives lossless zoom feature
- 16MP front-facing camera
The Photography We already knew about the details of the dual camera thanks to numerous leaks and rumors, but OnePlus 5 camera details are now official. “Phonography” has become a separate genre of modern photography.
OnePlus has as always been criticized in the past for its lack of innovation in the Camera department. Now ONEPLUS delivered a dual-lens sensor for the rear camera made by Sony. The manufacturer tried to “pump” the rear camera, giving it not only an additional lens, but also improved photo processing algorithms, and the main module received an aperture of f / 1.7, although the size of the pixels might still disappoint many geeks.

With the latest improvements, the camera can now catch more light and better shoot in low light conditions. The dual camera technology has now been adopted by a lot of manufacturers in several phones with the likes of Gionee S10, ZTE Nubia N2, and Micromax Dual 5and also makes its way to OnePlus 5. The smartphone sports a 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel dual rear camera setup. The primary camera will include a16 MP sensor and a f/1.7 aperture, also a 20MP telephoto lens.
Some features of this camera include
Digital Zoom: I bet You will be pleasantly surprised with the zoom feature of this device. It’s not going to give you the exact level of zoom quality as that of DSLR, and wouldn’t still revolutionize the way your regular phone cameras works – this is very useful when trying to shoot objects that are far away from where you are standing.
Portrait mode: This basically allows you to get great and more targeted shots of people using the two-lens setup. It means you can place that person in the foreground of the image and blur out the background, complete with attractive ‘bokeh’ effects.Talking about the Front camera The device sports a 16MP front camera with a 1-micron pixel Sony IMX371 sensor, also a f/2.0 aperture, and EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) gyro 1.0 µm pixel size as well as Auto HDR mode.
This is one of the phones capable of giving you some of the sharpest and best quality selfie shots currently available in the market. The cameras will also support 1080p video recording alongside the camera is the microphones which had also been touted to offer better audio quality when a video is recorded on OnePlus 5.
This is also another great feature added by the company to benefit does who love recording their face often. Not you won’t be able to use the Portrait mode.
BATTERY LIFE and DASH CHARGING
The OnePlus 5 is equipped with a Non-removable Li-Po 3300 mAh battery, which is actually slightly smaller than the 3400 mAh 3T battery. The One Plus5 battery capacity is 100mAh lower than that of the OnePlus 3T. This on of the factors the phone is now a hair thinner than the iPhone 7 Plus.

The 3T would comfortably last all day for battery life, But surprisingly I found the Plus 5 battery lasting better than a day. HD video loop test ran for 17 hours and 40minutes.
With regular use, the phone would last about an entire day. Normal real-world usage would last over 30hr (a day plus). It is quite usable and would be okay for an average user; a massive user might actually want more. OnePlus supplies its phones with its own bundled 20W charger featuring “dash charge,” which will top your battery up in no time.

VERDICT
- Pros: Brilliant battery life, better camera and extremely quick
- Cons: iPhone Clone, no expandable storage, no ingress protection (not waterproof)
No doubt the design is very OK especially the aluminum body looks and feels worthy of a flagship. Also, a better-improved handling when compared to iPhone 7 Plus. An awesome user interface blend of stock Android and light but useful touches in all the right places. The main concern here is the lack of ingress protections is a concern though.
Battery life and dash charging are one of the most significant improvement by OnePlus. The AMOLED display is okay, but not perfect: it’s a diamond pixel FullHD
The excellent camera and better performance to make a big improvement upgrade on the 3T. Mighty Snapdragon 835 chip in charge and 8GB of RAM is smooth, massive operation and smooth gaming experience.
OnePlus’s price tag might be quite disappointing. It is currently the most expensive OnePlus phone so far. The fact remains that OnePlus 5 is not in anywhere near a budget phone, but it’s still a good value Smartphone for your money.

PRICE and AVAILABILITY
Despite the fact that the OnePlus 5 is significantly more expensive than its predecessors, it remains one of the most affordable flagships currently on the market. The price of 560 euros for the maximum configuration does not seem so huge in comparison with the same iPhone 7 Plus, Galaxy S8 and even HTC U11. Especially considering that it will fall faster than brand names. The high price, in this case, is explained just by the high purchase price of “iron,” and the price-quality remains at a high level.
When choosing a smartphone, it is important to understand that there are no smartphones at all without flaws. OnePlus five should be one of those who can become the most balanced choice in the flagship segment, a workhorse for those who want a device with a large margin for the future without unnecessary compromises. The main thing is that OnePlus did not fail and coped with all that was laid on OnePlus 5. The smartphone has been priced at $479 in the U.S. and EUR 499 in Europe. Converting this:
- Nigerian naira would peg about # 176,000 naira.
- India Rupee would peg about Rs. 35,800 rupee.
- Ghana cedi would peg about GH₵ 2,466 cedies.
- South African Rand would peg about ZAR 7.179 Rand.
When available, you can buy the Android phone at leading online stores in the countries.
